Mountain Peacock Pheasant

The Malay Peninsula endemic. While many people told they are rare I'm come to understand that this bird was not as rare as what many thought. To many surprise this bird was reported in a lot of place. My photography partner have seen in in a few place too. I have miss in a few location but nailed it in two location. This year itself i have seen it for 4 times since beginning of this year. Great bird to see i must admit.

Genting Highland - Large Niltava

One of the first bird to come out during my presence. Not a photo which I would prefer the back ground to be but is not that difficult which I cant redo.

Butterfly and Moth - The Great Mormon

Beginning to see a few but recently seem like they are more widely spread in this location up in the higher altitude. The Great Mormon was an impressive large butterfly and wont be miss by many.

Genting Highland - Bar-throated Minla

Without much luck on other bird I took what ever chance I have on any species that turn out. This upper montane specialist the Bar-throated Minla is one of the colourful bird we can find in our mountain. Previously before the taxon revised this was also know as Chesnut Tailed Minla a name still used by many old timer in bird photography and bird watching. This species in recent year have been split and now know as the Bar-throated Minla.

Genting Highland - Snowy Browed Flycatcher

Genting probably the highest point drivable which have very good road system apart from Brinchang with narrow road. Today going up with some friend to for a normal photography trip was not as fruitful as we wish for. Yet some small bird does make my day for today such as this Snowy-Browed Flycatcher

Selangor - Tickell's Blue Flycatcher

I finally have a chance photograph this species. Though I find this species common in places such as Penang Island, I never have a chance to get a photo of this bird. This pair going in and out giving some gap of opportunity for some photograph to be taken.

Pahang - Colugo/Flying Lemur

A mammal caught my friend eye and off we take a short walk towards what he saw the colugo. This species is rather common in some island and on mainland, I seen them more on submontane and hilly area though people have saw them lower. The name flying does not mean it fly but more like glide. At time both male and female can be seen on the same tree.

Pahang - Grey Throated Babbler

While my friend was nailing his lifer of a group of Bushy Crested Hornbill I was trying to get this babbler which have been moving on the the undergrowth. This species usually in montane and submontane and in Penang Island all the way to the coast was probably a babbler that will be in everybody list. It got to mine rather late but ever since that I always spotted them. :)

Changeable Hawk Eagle

Today we manage to squeeze to go out with a friend to get his lifer. In fact I want a photographic lifer today as well. No doubt we got it and got it well I would say. On the way out we spotted this Hawk-Eagle perch by the road side. We quickly reverse our car to take a few shot before the bird flew. We still try our luck to get some flying shot of this species. The pale morph Changeable Hawk-Eagle is a common forest raptor though all my nest was never in forested area. More like open area, mangrove and plantation.

Barred-Eagle Owl - revisited

I manage to take sometime off after my meeting to see this individual. Honestly I was very glad to see it again. This time around this shy and nervous owl provide a longer view and batter photography opportunity for me. Also you can see much more brown on the wing compare to the first visit.

Selangor - Laced Woodpecker

This species is more associated with water then coastal. Though it is easily seen along our coastal mangrove I have find them way inland in exmining area and other location with almost similar habitat. Still this species was not a very easy species to photograph. It took me a while before it decided to stop on this tree for a while.

Pahang - Greater and Lesser Yellownape

With luck we got it on the same tree but could not get them on the same frame. Still it was nice to see both Greater and Lesser Yellownape on the same location

Pahang - Blue Nuthatch

This species seem to be more numerous lately compare to last month. I was given some photography opportunity to photograph this species when this individual decided to stop and started preening. I was like now i need my digiscope set up. Anyway without grumble, I handheld my Sigma 50-500 OS and took some shot of this species. Turn out not bad though with steep angle.

Trying out my new 50-500 sigma OS lense with only 350D body. Was happy to get this. In the first place I was worried it won't focus but think the focusing of this unit was great.

This species is not very common in mangrove though today we manage to photograph this individual in the mangrove area. Finding one excite me all the time. Being one of the smallest raptor in the world this species have great adaptation in breeding and also hunting. Below are some picture of the Black-Thighed Falconet.
